Biography

Mike Koplow was an anti-nuclear protester prosecuted with the LaSalle 14 following the June 26, 1982 protest at the Illinois nuclear power plant. He pleaded no contest. The March 9, 1983 Nuclear Resister reports that he was actually serving a thirty-day sentence at the Ottawa Correctional Center, and attributes the severity to a prior anti-nuclear conviction and what the court regarded as an unrepentant attitude. March 23 was an expected release date; his actual physical discharge, first prison admission and completed duration remain unverified. The LaSalle update individually says Mike Koplow was released March 17, 1983, six days early because of overcrowding. This completes the missing physical endpoint of the existing June 1982 prosecution. Intake is not back-calculated from either thirty imposed days or the six-day reduction.
