Biography
Matt Goretta was a miner in Donora, Pennsylvania, arrested during a raid on his home on December 16, 1927, and held under $1,000 bail on a sedition charge. He was one of four men denounced as radicals after a dispute within the Croatian Fraternal Union. The prosecution relied on Socialist literature found in their homes. The men retained attorney D. M. Anderson, and their hearing was scheduled for January 10, 1928.
