Biography

Mary-Alice Waters, editor of The Militant, stated in pretrial testimony in the Socialist Workers Party’s suit against federal police agencies that she recalled three arrests at San Francisco civil-rights demonstrations in 1964. She believed charges from the first arrest were dropped. The testimony distinguishes these United States arrests from an infant wartime arrest in the Philippines, which is not recorded as a United States custody case. Neither the exact days nor the charges or completed duration of each 1964 episode are supplied. Source: https://www.themilitant.com/1976/4040/MIL4040.pdf#page=9
