Biography

Martin Forkin was identified as a leader of the 1931 Estevan strike in Canada and a militant worker held in United States immigration custody in the June 13, 1932 Fargo dispatch published June 14. The report says he had been transferred from Fargo to Grand Forks for deportation, but explicitly had not yet been shipped out. An International Labor Defense representative was intervening, citing Department of Labor case 32240-225 and fears of political prosecution on return to Canada. This documents current U.S. detention with a stated political organizing context, without an exact intake, release, completed deportation or measured total. The source names him Martin; no unsupported first-name expansion is supplied. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1932/v09-n141-jun-14-1932-DW-LOC.pdf#page=2
