Markoff was an unemployed worker arrested with another leaflet distributor outside Laclede Steel in Madison on Wednesday night, October14, 1931. The October18 dispatch describes rough treatment and deportation threats, followed by actual release. Leaflets urged resistance to wage cuts. Only a surname is given.
