Biography

Mark Parker was a cotton-field worker who wrote to labor investigators about being jailed at Taft, Texas after leaving one farm for another offering better wages. The September 17, 1926 report quotes him describing a swindling and extortion accusation over $12 advanced for rations and presents the detention as an example of debt peonage. He had been recruited at Texarkana. No individual arrest, admission or release day, final court outcome or full duration is supplied.
