Biography

Marcus Dahl was among workers arrested at a Chicago street meeting at Belmont and Wilton Avenues in August 1930. The Daily Worker of August 19, page 2, datelined August 16, says twelve were held without booking from Saturday night to Sunday night before bail was set at $400 each. At the August 11 proceedings six unnamed defendants were dismissed; it explicitly names Marcus Dahl among the six facing unlawful assembly, violation of a city ordinance and sedition charges. Bail for the remaining defendants ranged from $1,400 to $4,400, without an individual allocation. Police claimed transfer to Cook County, but the ILD representative could not locate them there. No precise jail admission, actual release, conviction or sentence is established. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1930/v07-n199-NY-aug-19-1930-DW-LOC.pdf
