Biography
Maggie Pitocco was a seventeen-year-old picket in the 1926 Passaic textile strike. Maggie Pitocco was sentenced to six months on a disorderly conduct charge for her picket-line activity — one of the young women strikers whose jailings the ILD's Labor Defender reported in 1927. Her case went to appeal.
1920s custody review: The Daily Worker, July 29, 1926, page 5, reports Pitocco's recent picket-line arrest in a July 27 dispatch. The Textile Strike Bulletin, volume 1 number 22, describes the arrest and six-month sentence, and another item in the same issue refers to the sentence as imposed the previous week. These establish July 1926 arrest and sentencing at month precision, not the dispatch or publication day. The inherited 1927 admission was apparently taken from the date of a later Labor Defender report and is not supported as an admission date. It is removed; jail admission and release remain unresolved while the appeal history is retained. No identified individual photograph found.
