Biography

Maddy Pfeiffer was one of the Pacific Northwest grand-jury resisters. After refusing to answer questions before a federal grand jury investigating the 2012 Seattle May Day protests and anarchist organizing, Pfeiffer was found in civil contempt on December 14, 2012 and ordered to surrender on December 26. They were confined at the Federal Detention Center in SeaTac, including time in solitary confinement, although they were never charged with an underlying crime. Judge Richard A. Jones ordered Pfeiffer released on April 11, 2013 after concluding that continued confinement would not coerce testimony.
