Biography

Louis Borno was arrested by Bethlehem police while leaving a restaurant during Metal Workers Industrial League organizing. The March 24, 1931 Daily Worker’s report from Allentown says he and the other named organizer were held seventy-two hours for investigation without charges, then held under Pennsylvania’s Flynn sedition law. The paper attributes the arrests to steel companies’ opposition to union organizing. Exact arrest, release and final disposition are unprinted.
