Biography
Lila Wolman was a member of the Young People's Socialist League in Chicago. A statement by expelled YPSL members published in the Daily Worker of April 24, 1933, page 5, reports that Diane and Lila Wolman were arrested in January 1933 along with about a dozen others and defended by the International Labor Defense. It describes a March 21 demand by Socialist Party officials that the two withdraw from ILD-provided defense, part of a dispute over cooperation with Communists and unemployed workers. The statement does not establish the cause of their original arrests, formal charges, sentence, length of detention or eventual release.
