Biography
Leonard Miller was a New York dressmaker prosecuted with Dave Turner during the Needleman and Bremmer strike. The three were held in Bronx County Jail while awaiting sentence in April 1932. Miller and Adalchi received indeterminate terms of up to three years on Hart's Island. Garment workers organized meetings and protests demanding their release. They were released from jail on March 3, 1933.
The April 20, 1932 Daily Worker explicitly places Turner, the co-defendant printed first as Salvatore Adachi and later Adolchi, and Leonard Miller in Bronx County jail awaiting sentence. It describes the Industrial Union defense campaign and an Irving Plaza protest on April 18. Sentencing scheduled that day is not a completed outcome. The inconsistent Adachi/Adolchi spellings are preserved as variants of the existing Adalchi cohort record, without a duplicate profile or invented continuous custody from the earlier strike arrests. The June 14, 1932 Daily Worker advertises a June 15 Irving Plaza protest against sentencing of the garment-strike defendants printed Weissberg, Miller, Turner and Adlachi. The May 5, 1932 report describes actual imprisonment in the Needleman and Bremmer strike prosecution and calls a meeting to demand their release.
