Biography

Leo Novak was arrested in a Pontiac home raid during the January 1930 Communist crackdown. The paper says police acted without warrants and charged Novak and Dujowich under Michigan’s criminal-syndicalism law for Communist Party membership. It identifies Philip Raymond and George E. Powers as earlier defendants held on $15,000 bail, but does not assign their bail to the two newly arrested men. Exact individual arrest day, jail admission, final disposition and release are unknown. Daily Worker, January 28, 1930, page 3.
