Biography

The January 1937 Southern Worker reports Len Young among four people, three white and one Black, returning from town in Atlanta when two Klansmen and two uniformed policemen stopped them. The officers cursed the Black passenger, threatened to take the group for a ride, then took them to the station and booked disorderly-conduct charges. The report says the Black man’s only supposed offense was riding with white people. No individual race is assigned to Young; no exact arrest day, sentence, physical discharge or complete custody duration is supplied.
