Biography
Lauren R. Watson organized Denver’s Black Panther chapter. His prosecution for resisting and fleeing police was filmed for public television and ended in acquittal.
The June 28, 1969 Black Panther individually identifies Lauren Watson as arrested in Denver with Rev. Russ Simpson and Chauncey Booker at approximately 3:15 a.m. on June 15 on a concealed-weapon charge and describes subsequent booking. The explicit booking after June 15 and before the June 28 publication bounds actual admission within June 1969, recorded at month precision. This is separate from his 1968 prosecution. The source does not establish an independent admission day, actual release endpoint or completed custody duration.
