Biography
LaNada War Jack, born LaNada Vernae Boyer in 1947, is a Shoshone-Bannock writer and activist from the Fort Hall Reservation. She became the first Native American student admitted to the University of California, Berkeley and helped lead the 1969 Third World Liberation Front strike that won an ethnic-studies program. Police arrested her during the strike on February 27, 1969. The reviewed archival record establishes the arrest but does not establish booking into jail, a release date or a custodial sentence. She later became a principal organizer of the 1969–1971 Occupation of Alcatraz.
