Biography
L. Simpson was one of four Alabama sharecroppers whom a Birmingham dispatch dated December 29, 1932 reported released from Dadeville jail, Tallapoosa County, following protests against repression of the croppers. Only an initial and surname are supplied; this record is not merged with unrelated Simpson profiles. The source does not establish unreported custody endpoints or total time actually served.
The December 26, 1932 Daily Worker lists Lloyd Simpson among the Dadeville sharecropper prisoners interviewed by ILD attorney Frank B. Irwin. The name and Dadeville cohort are consistent with the existing L. Simpson release report, but the fuller given name remains a source attribution rather than an unqualified identity change. He is not merged with other Simpson prisoners. Source: https://www.marxists.org/archive/herndon/1932/dec-26-1932-DW.pdf#page=3
