Biography
Kevin Towle was a Vietnam-era draft resister associated with Monadnock Meeting. He was imprisoned for refusing draft registration.
The December 1972 notice identifies Towle with Monadnock Meeting in Peterborough and reports his parole from Morgantown Federal Youth Center on September 30, 1972. It describes about half of a three-year sentence for refusing registration and a one-week special release in August to visit family and attend The Meeting School commencement at Rindge. The three-year nominal term conflicts with the earlier two-year report; no precise total or uninterrupted interval is inferred across the furlough. The September 1, 1971 notice reports Towle transferred from Merrimack County Jail in Concord, New Hampshire to Ashland federal prison. It gives a two-year imposed term for refusing registration and identifies Monadnock Meeting. The later three-year description remains a documented conflict rather than an overwritten sentence or actual duration. The March 1, 1972 notice reports that Towle remained in hospital, had temporarily discontinued his fast as of mid-January, and received an inadequate vegetarian diet. It describes his stated intention not to work for the prison again and possible renewed fasting, not a completed release or an additional sentence.
