Biography

Kenneth Stolte Jr. appears in the Central Committee for Conscientious Objectors’1969 current-prisoner lists of draft and military conscientious resisters, held at Fort Leavenworth, Kansas.

The Movement reports that Ken Stolte and Dan Amick were convicted by a general court-martial at Fort Ord on May 22, 1968 for uttering disloyal statements and conspiring to commit acts prejudicial to military order. Each received four years at hard labor and a dishonorable discharge. The charges arose from a one-page leaflet they wrote and distributed in February. Their attorney was Francis Heisler of Carmel, who was appealing the convictions. The reported Leavenworth terms were imposed sentences, not evidence that four years were actually served; no admission or release date is derived from the sentencing.
