Biography

Kate Stone was a knitgoods worker prosecuted for picketing during a Philadelphia knitgoods strike. The Daily Worker of December 18, 1934, page 3, reports that Judge McDevitt had sentenced her to three months in jail and denied a motion for a new trial. The report places her sentence within a wider campaign against workers' organizing and the proposed Lenin memorial meeting. It does not establish the statutory charge, exact sentencing day, physical admission or release, or how much of the sentence was served.
