Biography
Karo was a Daily Worker newspaper seller in the Detroit and Dearborn area. The June 27, 1934 Daily Worker reported that men wearing Dearborn police badges arrested him on Friday night, June 22, threatened to kill him during a drive, and continued to hold him incommunicado on June 26 under $500 cash bond. He was charged with violating a newspaper ordinance despite holding a newspaper-selling license for more than three years. The report gives no personal given name, jail admission date or eventual release date.
The July 11 issue prints the fuller name Karo Migrdechian and his identified photograph in a first-person account matching the existing June 22 Detroit/Dearborn newspaper-selling arrest. He describes police beating him in their car and says the ILD obtained his release. His statement of twenty-three arrests since March 1932 is an aggregate claim, not twenty-three individually reconstructed cases. No exact discharge day is printed. Daily Worker, July 11, 1934, page 3. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1934/v11-n165-jul-11-1934-DW-LOC.pdf#page=3
