Biography
Juan Galloza Acevedo was a former member of Los Macheteros who took part in the December 3, 1979 Sabana Seca ambush of a U.S. Navy bus in Puerto Rico. Two sailors, John Ball and Emil White, were killed and ten others were wounded. Investigators identified Galloza Acevedo through evidence developed after the cold case was reopened. He admitted his involvement to federal investigators in July 2013, cooperated, and pleaded guilty to racketeering conspiracy and related murder and robbery conduct. On May 8, 2014, U.S. District Judge Sterling Johnson sentenced him to five years in federal prison, citing his minor role, cooperation, and remorse.
