Biography

Joseph Roberts was one of nine Communist Party organizers prosecuted in the Philadelphia Smith Act case. He was also known as Sam Gobeloff. A jury convicted him in 1954. On June 20, 1955, the court imposed a three-year sentence and ordered him jailed immediately after denying bail pending appeal.
