Biography

Joseph O’Brien was arrested in the 1935 Linnton Standard Oil bombing prosecution during the tanker strike. The July 26 Voice of the Federation reports his acquittal of the bombing charge but says a dynamite-theft charge remained against him and two others. The October 31 issue says he was at sea when prosecutors sought to pursue the dynamite matter. His being at sea establishes that he was then outside jail; neither the earlier acquittal nor the new prosecution threat supplies an exact physical release day or completed detention total.
