Biography

Joseph Costa was a young New Bedford textile striker. A September 14 dispatch reports him arrested again on a warrant at 1:30 that afternoon, accused of entering a schoolroom, making derogatory remarks about the American flag and swearing allegiance to the Red Flag. The newspaper disputes the police account. It provides no conviction, actual jail intake, release or measured duration. The qualified identity does not assert a link to another Costa.
