Biography
Jørgen Dragsdahl is a Danish journalist who reported on the United States and supported the Black Panther Party. In August 1969 he was jailed in California for contempt after raising a clenched fist in support of Bobby Seale during a court hearing. He and Panther Jymbo Sudan received five-day jail sentences and $500 fines. Dragsdahl returned to Denmark after his confinement and later became a foreign-affairs and security-policy journalist.
Bobby Seale’s interview printed October 25, 1969 describes the visiting Danish supporter Jörgen being jailed after returning Seale’s raised-fist salute in court. Seale reports approximately five days of actual confinement before Jörgen returned to court. This supports actual detention rather than merely a nominal five-day sentence, but does not supply an actual release day or a final total for all custody.
