Biography
Jonathan “Jon” Bayless was seventeen when he joined the Silver Spring Three in destroying Selective Service records with blood and paint on May 21, 1969. Police arrested the group at the scene. Because he was a juvenile, authorities initially released him while his adult codefendants remained jailed. He received three years of probation, but a later conscientious-objector roster places him in federal prison at Ashland. The cause and exact dates of that later confinement remain unresolved.
