Biography
Gian Filippo “John” Pietra was a Roman Catholic priest and one of the Chicago 15 arrested after the group burned about 40,000 Selective Service records on May 25, 1969. Police transferred the participants to Cook County Jail. Pietra did not appear when the federal trial began on May 5, 1970, and his case was severed. No later conviction or sentence has been verified, and the release date from his initial 1969 arrest remains unresolved.
