Biography

John Joseph Killian was a former United Electrical Workers official prosecuted for signing a Taft-Hartley non-Communist affidavit. His first conviction was reversed after the Supreme Court’s Jencks decision. A second jury convicted him on May 2, 1958, and he received concurrent terms of five and three years on May 13. The Supreme Court vacated the judgment in December 1961 and returned the case to the trial court; the final disposition and whether Killian ever entered prison remain unresolved.
