Biography
John J. Fougerouse was the Portland agent of the Marine Cooks and Stewards Association. The December 22, 1938 Voice reports his recent immigration arrest for alleged illegal entry in 1924 and one-thousand-dollar cash bail. The Federation’s resolution says immigration officials had dropped the earlier charges after investigation fourteen years before and alleges that reopening the matter during his reelection campaign targeted his union activity. Bail was demanded; posting or discharge is not established. Source: https://archive.ilwu.org/wp-content/uploads/2015/04/19381222.pdf#page=8
