John Henry Isaac III
Biography
John Henry Isaac III was a Marine reservist from Harlem who refused participation in the Gulf War on grounds of conscience. Breakthrough listed him in the Camp Lejeune brig in Summer 1991. His defense attorneys reported that he was convicted of desertion and served six months at hard labor. Exact custody endpoints remain unverified.
The February 1, 1991 Workers’ Advocate identifies this resister in the eight-member Fox Company reserve group from the Bronx ordered to Camp Lejeune on January 3 to await trial for refusing Persian Gulf service. It reports unauthorized-absence, missing-movement and conspiracy accusations, connecting the latter to collaboration on conscientious-objector applications. The order is not itself a documented physical brig admission. The report supplies a contemporary pretrial stage, not a new conviction or completed sentence. Its printed forms include Enrique Gonzalez, John Isaac and Wayne McWhate for members already identified in this cohort.
