Biography
Jennie Gorman was arrested in Wilkes-Barre and charged with sedition for distributing leaflets. Phil Frankfeld’s article in the Daily Worker of December 26, 1929, page 4, cites her arrest as an example of police repression of Communist activity. It says her husband was also arrested and charged with sedition when he came to inquire about her. The article gives no first name for her husband, exact arrest day, sentence, length of confinement or eventual release. Page 3 names Jennie Gorman arrested July 31 for antiwar leaflets and her husband, printed D. A. Gorman, arrested the following day while inquiring at court. The paired Wilkes-Barre antiwar context corroborates the existing Dave Gorman household without creating another husband. The article says both refused an offer of release conditional on leaving the district and were charged with sedition, but were actually out on $2,000 bail by November 11. November 20 trial was prospective; no later outcome is presumed. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1929/1929-ny/v06-n213-NY-nov-12-1929-DW-LOC.pdf
