Racial-justice activist and Black Unity leader pushed to the ground and beaten by Springfield, Oregon police at the July 29, 2020 Black Unity march, then charged with assault of an officer, interfering, and felony riot. After two years of prosecution, all charges were dismissed mid-trial in June 2022 — the last of the Springfield BLM criminal cases to end — and she joined CLDC's civil-rights suit against the police.
The opinion records that all criminal charges against Jourdan were dismissed on June 23, 2022. It distinguishes the force incident from an arrest: she was not under arrest at the time officers used force. On January 23, 2026, U.S. District Judge Ann Aiken denied the individual defendants’ and City of Springfield’s summary-judgment motions in Black Unity v. City of Springfield, 6:21-cv-00346-AA. The ruling allowed the surviving civil-rights claims to proceed; it was not a final liability verdict or damages award.
