Biography
A nurse and nursing educator with a master's degree, the oldest Beaver 55 member. She took part in scrambling magnetic research tapes at Dow Chemical (Midland, Michigan) and, a week later, destroying draft files in Indianapolis. Convicted on all four counts in the Indianapolis case (four years, reduced to three) and served a separate Michigan sentence for the Dow action; the opinion notes she expressed no remorse. She was released from the federal women's prison at Alderson, West Virginia in the mid-1970s.
Fr.BillToohey’s column identifies the jailed draft-record protester as nurse JaneKennedy, says her term was three years and announces a May6 parole from Alderson. It quotes her prison-life, faith and criminal-justice reflections and describes a NobelPeacePrize nomination. The May6 date was prospective on April28,1976, not confirmation that physical discharge occurred. Her separate Michigan and federal imprisonment remain distinct, without a new custody total.
