Biography

James Wheatley was hanged with twelve fellow 24th Infantry soldiers at sunrise on December 11, 1917, after the largest court-martial in U.S. military history convicted him of mutiny and murder. Conviction formally set aside by U.S. Army November 2023 (posthumous). (Recorded as James Wheatley Corporal of the 24th Infantry Regiment. Cpl. James Wheatley)
