Biography

James Kennedy was a national committee member of the Marine Workers Industrial Union. The Daily Worker of December22,1932 reports that he was in Baltimore city jail because of his activities in the summer1932 strike aboard the S.S.Walter D.Munson. His union committee sent greetings to him and fellow imprisoned member Lawrence Emery. The report supplies no precise arrest date, formal charge, sentence or release date.

The June28 Baltimore account places the waterfront clash Sunday June26. Kennedy was arrested, beaten by seven police after seizure, hospitalized and denied bail on assaulting-an-officer and other unspecified allegations. The dispute followed the WalterD.Munson wage reduction. It does not establish final release or a prison sentence.
