Biography

J. D. Arnold, identified in court records as John D. Arnold, was news editor of the Dallas Iconoclast. The Texas Observer reported in July 1972 that he had recently spent a weekend in Dallas jail on contempt charges. The case arose from photographing an undercover officer outside a courtroom. The Texas Court of Criminal Appeals dismissed the contempt charges on January 9, 1974; the six-month sentence imposed is not evidence of six months actually served.
