Biography

J. Benkal, a cloakmaker, was actually arrested while picketing Dressler and Freedman at 104 West 27th Street. The June 21, 1928 report says he was subsequently freed on $500 bail pending trial in Jefferson Market Court. It gives no exact arrest or physical discharge day and does not establish a one-day detention.
