Biography
Isaac Mims was a Black Alabama prisoner convicted of robbery-murder and sentenced to death. He was electrocuted at Kilby Prison shortly after midnight on March 11, 1932, alongside Percy Irvin. The League of Struggle for Negro Rights and the Communist press protested the executions as part of their campaign against racial injustice in Southern criminal prosecutions.
The March 21, 1932 Daily Worker reports Irvin and Mims electrocuted just after midnight on March 11 at Kilby Prison and describes the League of Struggle for Negro Rights campaign against their executions. Its characterization as execution for fifty-cent larceny is incomplete beside the existing corroborated robbery-murder prosecution; the formal charges are retained.
