Biography
Irving David Rubin, 74, JDL Chairman and former Air Force serviceman, was indicted December 12, 2001 with Earl Krugel for conspiring to bomb the King Fahd Mosque in Culver City CA and the office of US Rep Darrell Issa. Caught in an FBI sting via informant Danny Gillis. While imprisoned at MDC Los Angeles awaiting trial, Rubin cut his own throat and jumped off a balcony November 4, 2002; died of injuries November 13, 2002.
Pistole’s April 14, 2004 FBI statement identifies Irving Rubin and Earl Krugel as Jewish Defense League members arrested in the alleged bombing conspiracy. It describes possible intended targets as IMPAC and Congressman Darrell Issa’s office, which differs from the King Fahd Mosque target described in the earlier record. The differing accounts remain attributed. The statement reports Rubin’s death and then-pending charges against Krugel but supplies no new arrest or custody-end date.
