Biography
Hugh F. Farrell, age 23, was indicted in 2009 with four misdemeanor counts (intimidation and conversion) plus one Class C felony for involvement in protests against the I-69 highway expansion in Indiana. The judge dismissed the felony racketeering charge in March 2010; his plea bargain was unsupervised probation for two years.

Fire to the Prisons reports that the anti-I-69 protesters identified as Hugh and Tiga were arrested on April 24, 2009 and taken to Pike County jail in Indiana. Hugh was held on a $20,000 cash bond and was bailed out on April 28; Tiga was bailed out on May 4. The account describes the intimidation, conversion and corrupt-business-influence charges as part of the prosecution of resistance to the highway expansion. This pretrial jail interval is separate from Farrell’s later sentence of unsupervised probation.
