Biography
Henry M. Warfield was a member of the Maryland House of Delegates arrested in the September 1861 federal sweep of the legislature and imprisoned without charge at Fort McHenry and Fort Warren.
Marshall reproduces Colonel Dimick’s November 27, 1862 release certificate naming Henry M. Warfield. Howard’s accompanying narrative says the end of captivity was announced on November 26 after receipt of the release telegram, with the certificate supplied the following morning. The certificate on printed page 710 identifies Henry M. Warfield, whereas the earlier list on page 369 prints Henry M. Carfield. The Fort Warren political-prisoner return dated April 15, 1862 records this individual’s commission disposition as: “Refused parole.” The report date is not an exact release date.
