Biography

Henry G. Vernon was president of the Dairy Farmers' Protective League and an individually named jailed picket in a Brookhaven, Mississippi dairy strike. The Daily Worker of July 28, 1936, page 1, in a July 27 dispatch, reports seventeen pickets held without bond on assault and battery with intent to kill charges after clashes in which strikebreakers tried to drive milk trucks through the lines. National Guardsmen broke up picket lines during the preceding night. The report establishes custody by July 27 but does not individually date the arrests or establish conviction, release or total time held.
