Biography

Harold Hynes was national secretary of the Marine Workers Industrial Union. The March 26, 1931 Daily Worker reports that Hynes and national organizer H. Harvey were arrested for circulating leaflets urging striking New Orleans longshoremen to defy an injunction and organize mass picketing. Federal judge Grubb sentenced them to ten days in parish prison. The article has a March 28 dateline despite appearing in the March 26 issue, so no exact arrest or sentencing day is inferred. Ten days is the reported sentence, not independently measured time served. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1931/v08-n074-NY-mar-26-1931-DW-LOC.pdf#page=1
