Biography

Hans Pfieffer was a Chicago Communist candidate for the Illinois Assembly, a labor organizer and a Daily Worker seller. The August 29, 1934 Daily Worker says he had organized terra-cotta and stockyards workers, became a plumber after blacklisting and was expelled from the plumbers union in 1933 as a Communist. It reports sixteen days actually served for demanding milk for babies, as well as a separate Stewart Die Cast strike-picket arrest. He helped lead unemployed relief campaigns and the October 31, 1932 hunger march. The caption identifies him with his unnamed son. Exact custody endpoints are not supplied, and the printed surname spelling is retained. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1934/v11-n207-aug-29-1934-DW-LOC.pdf#page=5
