Biography

Gust Mikades was a participant in a workers’ demonstration at McKeesport on September 1, 1930. The Daily Worker of September 8, page 2, in a Pittsburgh dispatch dated September 7, reports police breaking up a demonstration of 3,000 people and arresting Chandler, Roth and Mikades. Each received a $50 fine or fifty days in jail. The source does not say whether this defendant paid the fine or actually served the alternative jail term and gives no physical discharge date. Cases

Charges: Arrest during the September 1 McKeesport workers’ demonstration; formal charge not specified.
Arrested: Sep 1, 1930
Sentence: Fifty-dollar fine or fifty days in jail; actual service of the alternative term is not established. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1930/v07-n216-NY-sep-08-1930-DW-LOC.pdf#page=2
Charges: Arrest at the McKeesport National Tube antiwar demonstration; statutory count unspecified.
Arrested: Aug 1, 1929
Sentence: Printed Gust Mikados, individually named with Samuel A. Herman and Mike Stanovich among workers arrested during the August 1, 1929 demonstration. The uncommon name and same McKeesport labor setting support the existing Mikades record. This is distinct from September 1930; no fifty-day term from that later case is assigned here. Regional bail-release reporting supplies no exact personal discharge.
