Biography

George Skatzes was one of the five prisoners sentenced to death following the April 11–21, 1993 Lucasville uprising. The Lynds’ account reproduced in the July–August 2018 National Jericho newsletter identifies him individually and says the cases remained in litigation. A different placement from the four at Ohio State Penitentiary; precise prison not supplied. This profile concerns prosecution following a prison uprising; it does not establish the political motive of an earlier conviction or imply the death sentence was executed. Individual arrest, sentence and physical custody endpoints are not supplied. Source: https://jerichony.org/images28/NATIONAL_JERICHO_MOVEMENT_NEWSLETTER-July-Aug_2018-Vol_6.pdf#page=44

The report names George Skatzes as a prisoner representative during the April 1993 Southern Ohio Correctional Facility uprising and discusses racial solidarity among participants. It does not establish a new admission or physical release. Source: The Militant, May 3, 1993, PDF page 6. https://www.themilitant.com/1993/5717/MIL5717.pdf#page=6
