Biography
George Moore was sentenced to death at Winston-Salem, North Carolina for stealing a pair of shoes reportedly worth less than one dollar. The International Labor Defense campaign won commutation to life imprisonment. His prison admission and later release or death dates remain unresolved.
The March 14, 1932 Daily Worker calls the North Carolina shoe-theft death-sentence defendant George Moore; the March 21 follow-up calls the Winston-Salem man John Moore and reports commutation to life. The matching locality and punishment are retained as an explicit source-name conflict in this existing case, without renaming him or merging him with the unrelated Oregon John Moore.
