Biography
George Armwood was a Black worker whom a mob removed from Princess Anne jail on Maryland’s Eastern Shore and lynched on October 18, 1933. Page 2 of the November 8 Daily Worker reports a procession through the town and torture before his killing. It describes a provisional New York investigation committee, a corresponding Baltimore committee and a planned November 18–19 anti-lynching conference and public trial. Allegations identifying officials and leading citizens as mob instigators are attributed to Captain Spencer’s affidavit and the newspaper, not adjudicated findings. The underlying jail accusation and exact admission day are not supplied in this issue. Source: https://www.marxists.org/history/usa/pubs/dailyworker/1933/v10-n268-nov-08-1933-DW-LOC.pdf
