FrederickSchadt, a former deputy tax collector, was arrested for violation of the peace less than24hours after testifying before the Senate committee investigating WilliamS.Vare’s1926 election, according to the July13 Philadelphia report. He was brought before MagistrateEdwardJ.Connor, whom he had named as paying some voters’ tax receipts.
